NICHOLAS VANCHERI NAMED SUPERINTENDENT

OF NORTHERN REGION EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMISSION

Dr. Nicholas V. Vancheri

WAYNE, NJ -- The Northern Region Educational Services Commission (NRESC) announces the hiring of Dr. Nicholas V. Vancheri, as its new superintendent effective July 1, 2021. Dr. Vancheri served as the acting superintendent since January of 2021, upon the retirement of Diana C. Lobosco, former shared superintendent of Northern Regional Educational Services Commission and Passaic County Technical Vocational School District.

Prior to his appointment as acting superintendent, Dr. Vancheri served as Northern Region ESC’s director of education for nearly three years. In that role, Dr. Vancheri led the Commission’s efforts to increase related services by quadrupling the number of occupational therapists, speech therapists and physical therapists deployed to member school districts in the region.

Dr. Vancheri is quite proud of the early success of Second Home Day Habilitation Center, a program launched during the pandemic for special needs adults over the age of 21. At this time, Second Home Day Habilitation Center offers both in-person and virtual day habilitation services to its participants. This program currently has 10 special needs adults enrolled and is on track to exceed capacity given the increasing demand for the niche services provided.

Under Dr. Vancheri’s leadership, the Northern Region ESC recently launched an instructional technology department to help fill a critical need for technology services amongst member school districts. Interested school districts now have access to certified teachers who also possess Microsoft Office and Google certifications. These highly trained educators are available upon request to support teachers with their instruction by providing one-on-one technical support or professional development to embed technology into their daily instruction.

Dr. Vancheri’s long-term vision is for the Northern Region Educational Services Commission to become one of the leading providers of high quality and cost-effective educational services in New Jersey.  The NRESC serves a critical function for school districts by providing essential services that are also budget-friendly for their member districts.

In 2004, Dr. Vancheri began his career in education as a social studies teacher at Clifton High School and then advanced to the position of supervisor of social studies. Dr. Vancheri returned to his hometown of Paterson in 2011 to serve as supervisor of social studies, principal of School #7, and principal of John F. Kennedy’s STEM Academy.

Dr. Vancheri, 39, is a life-long resident of Passaic County. He was born and raised in Paterson and currently resides in Totowa with his wife and son.  He is a three-time alumnus of  Montclair State University.
